Pep Guardiola called Mohamed Salah “one of the greatest” and an “absolute legend” ahead of Manchester City’s FA Cup match against Liverpool.

Pep Guardiola paid tribute to Mohamed Salah on Friday before Manchester City’s FA Cup quarter-final against Liverpool.

He called the Egyptian forward “one of the greatest.” He also described Salah as “an absolute legend” as the Liverpool forward nears his departure.

Salah said last week that he will leave Liverpool after nine years at the club. Saturday’s match at the Etihad Stadium could be his final appearance there in a Liverpool shirt.

Guardiola said Salah deserved major recognition for what he has achieved in English football. He also said Liverpool had been City’s biggest rival during his time in England.

City go into the match seeking a record eighth straight FA Cup semi-final. Liverpool, meanwhile, remain in contention for more silverware before Salah’s exit.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot said Salah is fit and available for the tie. Slot also said goalkeeper Alisson Becker remains out, while Alexander Isak has returned to training but is not ready to start.

Salah has scored 255 goals for Liverpool and helped the club win two Premier League titles, the Champions League, the FA Cup, and two League Cups.
